I realized that I skipped writing about Beijing and also didn’t write about my last couple weeks in Hong Kong. I really wanted to write about both of these but time is just flying so I’ll just write a brief post.

So Beijing… Ahhh I really loved Beijing. It’s hard not to when you visit The Great Wall. We visited Jinshanling which is half restored and half non-restored & we were so lucky to have perfect weather plus we were basically alone on the wall which was so cool. We also visited the Forbidden City, ate peaking duck, used the selfie-stick too often, checked out the night life and had little adventures with hostel problems, going to temples that were closed and almost missing our flight back to Hong Kong. (Thank you Mrs. Leendertse)

We also had a 12 year old give us directions for 10 minutes that we never understood. I’m sure there are tones of other things I am forgetting to mention, but anyway I am serious when I say I had this facial expression (below) basically the entire time I was there.

Now for my last weeks in HK…

Well it was mostly getting assignments done, doing 5 presentations and getting mentally prepared to leave (which never happened). But there was still LKF and Wan Chai nights, I also took fully advantage of the amazing HK weather by “working” outside on the rez lawn as much as possible. I had dinner and drinks with Telfer’s assistant Dean along with Alex, Janice, Henry and Justin. Blake and I worked on our mandarin presentation and a super sweet girl from mainland came up to us and helped us make it perfect. That was so nice. I filmed our presentation and you can hear our prof at the end say “Very good” – her classssiic line. for those who have taken mandarin with her, you know what I’m talking about. xD

Then there was also a beach party/camping in Sai Kun. This was actually sooo fun and I think I will remember it for my whole life because it was the first time I saw plankton glowing in the water. Like actually, I was tripping out. I was in the water the WHOLE night. Everyone I spoke to after that evening were laughing at me because of it. I asked Rens to contribute to my blog post and he gave me this:

“Look at the sea, it’s blue! It’s amazing! Is it plankton? Yes, fluorescent plankton all over the place! Who wants to go swimming? everybody has too!! it’s so niceee. Come on guys, you have to go!”

Lol yep he was quoting me. I was literally obsessed. I am still obsessed actually. I still think its amazing. It wasn’t because I was drunk at all hahaha. But yeah that night was amazing. Slept in a tiny little tent with Jorien, she was so lucky I was literally the only person of the 40-ish people that brought a pillow. It was a big one so we shared it. And then the next day was hell, I woke up with sand all over me, I smelt like the sea because I was in it the entire night scrubbing plankton in my hair and all over myself xD Hahaha yeah maybe I was going overboard but like nooo I wasn’t, it was soooo coooll……That night was also cool because someone, I think Parker, brought a lazer, kind of like a DJ one, and we created a dance floor on the beach so it also became like a dance party at some point.

What else did I do during my last weeks in HK? I went to O-zone bar (highest bar in the world) with some peeps which was really fun, also went to Azure rooftop bar for their rosée event, super nice view and then afterwards there was the Botéllon, which is when the amphitheatre in LKF gets PACKED with people and there is a DJ… so fun. I almost broke Julien’s iPhone that night using a selfie-stick… #blameitontheselfiestick

I also had some delicious Dim Sum in TST and FINALLY took the Star Ferry!! Literally just took it from TST to Central and back to TST right after. I somehow convinced Emilie to do one last Monday Billy Boozer with me, I went to Temple Street one last time, I went to the horse races one last time, everything I was doing was “one last time” and I kept saying it, which was just depressing AF. And finally my time in HK ended with a night in Wan Chai…. #classic
